Blade Introduces: The Sapphire Music Video Award

At Blade, we encourage the support of the arts. We further believe in the power of video to benefit every business sector, including the Blues.

So, with the encouragement of the Toronto Blues Society, we were honoured to present The Sapphire Award – created and sponsored by Blade – to recognize the Best Blues Music Video in Canada, starting next year at the 2020 Maple Blues Awards. Blade’s Wayne Son Roberts introduced the award earlier this week at the 2019 Maple Blues Awards at Koerner Hall in Toronto to everyone’s delight.

“For me, the Blues is something I owe a debt to. This is a down payment on that in the hope that Blues artists in Canada will get their songs into videos, and get them out into the world.” To learn more about the Sapphire Award, visit www.sapphireaward.ca and check out the teaser trailer below:

Does Video Convert Viewers into Buyers?

In a study of 5,500 consumers by video marketing consultant BrightCove, 75% of viewers drew a connection between watching a video on social media and making a future purchase of said product – such as music. For companies searching for new ways to drive sales, this should be good news. The sad news is that most companies have yet to embrace the power of video let alone web series’ or brand films. NOW would be a good time to do so. Give us a holler. In the meantime, check out our reel.
